About CageBots

What started off as a hobby has evolved into more and that continues to grow.  It all started when MakerspaceCT in Hartford, CT advertised a combat robot event for beetles.  Having never competed we started to look for how we'd be able to participate as a competitor for the first event at the makerspace.  At that time we discovered the EndBots Vector kit and placed an order. That was in the summer of 2021 and the event was to be held on October 2, 2021.  The kit was ordered we waited for the kit to arrive.  We quickly started to get ready for the event.  We weren't sure when the kit was going to arrive and started working on making parts to get ready.  We started 3D printing parts and located MakeHaven which we joined to waterjet cut our vector top and bottom plates.

At this point ER Stingray was born...

After the initial event we started looking for other events and we discovered NHRL in Norwalk, CT.

Added a minibot wedge to the mix and become a multibot team and shared the ongoing experience with my son joining the team.

Over the next couple years our beetle bot evolved into ER Stingray 2 which slightly resembles a Vector lineage...

Over time we evolved the parts that make up the bot into more custom parts.

What started as a modified FingerTech motor into an integrated weapon hub motor removed the belt from the weapon.  This has now evolved to utilizing a Just Cuz Robotics JCR-5536 hub motor as our weapon motor with a custom blade.

In 2024 we decided it was time to take the hobby further and launched CageBots to pursue making products related to combat robotics.
